Me being a Yoga addict and Austin being a PT means that we are both very aware of our health. We both like to live a balanced life when it comes to food and fitness. Although it takes time and effort, choosing this path means that instead of feeling tired and sluggish you are leading a life full of energy, happiness and to top it all off you look and feel better! I have put together a collage that shares this week's Molly Pocket Tip. Coming up to Christmas we are all looking to shed a few pounds, so here is something simple that you can introduce into your daily diet that will make a huge difference.
Healthy fats help you lose fat by improving metabolism, balancing hormones, and eliminating constant cravings. As well as this, fat is filling and can lead to a greater satisfaction from eating, curbing hunger and cravings.
Coffee: Caffeine intake first thing in the morning jumpstarts your metabolism and starts breaking down your fat stores to convert it into energy, therefore burning your fat!
Fish Oils: Omega 3 helps turn on genes that are involved in the burning of fat, while turning off the genes that store fat.
Avocado: Dry skin and eyes is often caused by a deficiency in fatty acids. Getting adequate Omega 3 and healthy fats in your diet can help the body's ability to lubricate effectively leaving you with healthier and younger looking skin.
Protein Powder: Post workout protein helps stop the breakdown of muscle and helps instead build lean muscle tissue. More muscle tissue is directly linked to greater fat-loss.
Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is made of medium chain triglycerides, commonly referred to at MCT oil. MCT oil is is used for immediate energy, not stored with other fats in the body. MCT oil is used in the body almost like carbohydrate but without the spike of insulin. Coconut oil can be a great substitute for oil or butter while cooking.
Nuts: Nuts are really good for you because they provide "smart" fats, protein, fiber and are very high in antioxidants.
